My Dearest Friend,

 It is with the greatest delight that I write you after our recent visit to the home our mutual friend M__. We spent many an hour under the shade of grand trees and strolling through their magnificent gardens. How life is once again Elysian, with the hostilities now behind us.  We can at last find oursevles able to consider the prospects of a peaceable kingdom-not of kings but of men.
As I had indicated in my last missive, I had a charming new polonaise commissioned by Mlle. __ for the occasion. It arrived on the ship from Marseilles scarcely in time for our journey to Virginia. Oh how I had hoped you could have seen this confection of lilac silk trimmed in gauze.  Only our cherished Majesté la Reine should have one to eclipse it. I commence my journey this Monday to return to the bosom of my family, may Pegasus guide my team safely back to Boston.
